We strive to create an inclusive and safe classroom culture. It is a priority that children feel secure in their surroundings. This means that they feel physically and emotionally safe. We wish to build a strong connection between home and school, and we do so by providing regular communication with parents or caregivers.
At the start of the school year, we focus on establishing our classroom community. We do this by exploring the children's identities. This could include discussions about family members, interests, and things that are special to us. We also focus on the environment and our surroundings, such as the neighbourhood, plants and animals in our area and our relationship with them.
At the beginning of the year, we invite the children to share what they would like to see and do at school. This is something that is revisited throughout the year. This process allows for the children to be actively involved in contributing to the learning experience.
