The creator of this website is a accomplished science educator with decades of classroom experience, paired with a deep, practical knowledge of investing and financial planning.
His journey into finance began early—back in high school, sparking a lifelong passion. His very first venture into the stock market was in the early 1980s, an investment in the home computer company, Commodore International the developer of the popular Commodore 64computer. Fortunately, he timed his exit, selling his shares for a considerable gain before the company went bankrupt.
That initial experience offered a valuable, two-fold lesson: first, the potential for profit, and second, the realization that picking individual stocks can be quite risky. This insight steered him toward a safer, more diversified approach, leading him to invest primarily in mutual funds, with a strong focus on index funds. Throughout his accumulation years, he maintained a moderate-to-aggressive portfolio to maximize growth.
Upon entering retirement, he naturally moved to a more conservative portfolio. In addition, his interest in helping others grew! He began providing informal financial planning and investment guidance to friends and family.
Now, he's putting all that accumulated knowledge and practical experience into two easy-to-follow, online self-paced courses:
1. One course specifically designed for young adult investors starting their journey.
2. One course tailored for retired seniors focused on preservation and income.
We hope you enjoy the courses. Please help us build a vibrant learning environment by adding your comments and questions to the dedicated YouTube videos—it's a great way to start the community conversation.
