Notes:

1) City bus, 公共汽车(gōnggòngqìchē), sometimes shortened as 公交车(gōngjiāochē) or 公车(gōngchē), is one of the most common public transport in China. Intercity buses, like Greyhound, will be called 客车(kèchē), meaning "guest vehicle".

2) 骑(qí) to ride + bike/motorcycle/horse

开(kāi) to drive; to operate + any vehicle that you are the driver

坐(zuò) to travel by; to take+ any vehicle that you are the passenger

Let's look at some examples:

骑自行车 (qí zìxíngchē ) to ride a bike 坐地铁 (zuò dìtiě) to take the subway 开车 (kāi chē) to drive a car

3) Pattern:

Q: How do you go to + a place? 你怎么去+一个地方？nǐ zěnme qù+ yí ge dìfang?

A: I go (there) by + means of transport. 我+V.+ 交通工具+去。 Wǒ+ v.+ jiāotōng gōngjù +qù.

Example:

Q: How do you go to school? 你怎么去学校？ nǐ zěnme qù xuéxiào? / 你怎么上学？ nǐ zěnme shàng xué?

A: I go to school by school bus. 我坐校车去学校。/我坐校车上学。Wǒ zuò xiàochē qù xuéxiào./ Wǒ zuò xiàochē shàng xué.
