Learn Five Privacy Policy

Learn Five is a vocabulary-learning application designed to help users learn and retain words in multiple languages.

This Privacy Policy explains what information Learn Five uses, how that information is handled, and the third-party services used by the app.

Information stored on your device

Learn Five stores information required to provide its learning features locally on your device. This may include:

• your selected native and learning languages;

• vocabulary progress;

• words marked as known or still learning;

• weekly and monthly review progress;

• learning preferences and notification settings;

• custom words added by you; and

• whether the Remove Ads purchase has been recognised.

This information is primarily stored locally and is not used to create a Learn Five user account. Learn Five does not require users to create an account or provide a name, email address or password.

Android may back up some application data in accordance with your device and Google account backup settings.

Error reports

Learn Five includes an optional “Report an error” feature. If you choose to submit a report, information relevant to the reported vocabulary item is sent securely to the Learn Five reporting server.

A report may include:

• the word being reported;

• its displayed meaning;

• native and target languages;

• CEFR level and word type;

• example sentences and translations;

• displayed word forms;

• the type of problem selected;

• any optional comment you enter;

• the app version and platform; and

• the time the report was submitted.

Users should not include unnecessary personal information in the optional report comments.

Reports are used only to investigate errors, improve vocabulary content and improve Learn Five. The report record does not intentionally store the user's raw IP address.

Error reports are retained only as long as reasonably necessary to investigate and correct reported issues. Reports may be retained for up to 12 months where necessary to identify recurring issues and may be deleted sooner after review.

Advertising

Learn Five is free to use and displays advertising unless the user purchases the optional Remove Ads feature.

Learn Five uses the Google Mobile Ads SDK and Google's consent-management services. Depending on the user's privacy choices, Google's advertising services may process information including:

• IP address, which may be used to estimate general location;

• advertising or device identifiers;

• interactions with advertisements and the app;

• diagnostic and performance information; and

• information used for advertising, analytics and fraud prevention.

Where required, Learn Five displays Google's privacy and consent options before requesting advertising.

Users can revisit advertising privacy choices from the Learn Five settings screen.

Translation services

Learn Five uses Google ML Kit for supported translation functionality. Translation models are downloaded to the device as required and translation processing is performed on-device.

Purchases

Learn Five may offer a one-time Remove Ads purchase. Purchases are processed through Google Play Billing. Learn Five does not directly receive or store your payment-card information.

Permissions

Learn Five may request or use:

• notification permission, to provide scheduled vocabulary and review notifications;

• internet access, for advertising, consent management, translation-model downloads, purchases and voluntary error reports;

• network-status access;

• device restart information, so scheduled notifications can be restored after the device restarts; and

• vibration for notifications.

Learn Five does not request access to your precise location, contacts, camera, microphone or SMS messages.

Data security

Error reports sent to Learn Five use HTTPS encryption while being transmitted. Third-party Google services also use their own security measures and privacy practices.

Deleting your information

Locally stored Learn Five data can be removed by clearing the app's data through Android settings or uninstalling the application.

If you wish to request deletion of information submitted through the Report an error feature, contact the email address below and provide enough information to identify the relevant report where possible.

Third-party services

Learn Five uses services supplied by Google, including Google Mobile Ads, Google User Messaging Platform, Google ML Kit and Google Play Billing. These services are governed by Google's applicable privacy policies and terms.

Changes to this Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy may be updated when Learn Five's features or data practices change. The effective date at the top of this page will be updated when significant changes are made.
