A change in competing players with most of the bigwigs going to Telford. 1982 sees the debuts of Gerry and 'Causio', who had had 145 shots at his first outing at Bootle together with an X. A few months later he was winning his first Rosebowl at Formby with 72 points!!
Gerry's first outing ended with a nett 93 playing along with Ray Davies who won Hoylake and was docked 5 shots! They seemed to have regular handicap reviews then and the max was now just 36.
A couple of interesting guest appearances at an obviously wet Arrowe Park (judging by the state of the score cards and the smudges from felt tip pens used!!) from Mike McGee (151) and Keith (?) Davidson (178). No sign of your guest appearance, Lee!
With most of the best players of the time going to Telford, LCS really struggled in that year's Matheson Trophy scoring just 2 points (EK 6.5 and Telford 9.5) and only half a point in their 8 singles matches - Dave Newby against F.Carlin from EK where Bernie had noted the result as 'Gave Up' - obviously an agreed half!!
