About Us
Founded in 2026, we unite Long Beach residents passionate about expanding native plant populations. We bring together home gardeners, native plant landscapers & gardeners to help them be successful with growing native plants in public and private spaces and for restoration. Through knowledge-sharing—including workshops, plant shares, and field trips—we help the community cultivate, propagate, and advocate for local native plants. We encourage everyone to share their successes, challenges, ideas, questions and inspiration of their native plant gardens.
Join us at Rivers End Wetlands Park
October 17, 2026 11-12:30PM
Event includes plant & seed share, wetlands tour, community roundtable, and seed workshop.
New and experienced native plant gardeners are welcome!
Plant & seed share - Bring any healthy native plants, cuttings, or seeds you’d like to share. You’re welcome whether or not you bring something! Please take a modest amount at first so everyone has a chance to bring something home.
Wetlands restoration tour - Rheo McColl, volunteer project coordinator, will lead a tour of the River’s End Park Wetlands Restoration Project. We’ll also explore a few areas that LBNPC could potentially adopt.
Community roundtable - Meet new members, share project updates, talk about how your plants are doing, and bring questions to the group.
Hands-on seed propagation workshop - We’ll wrap up with a hands-on seed propagation workshop.

Theodore Payne Foundation - great local resource for classes on native plant gardening, for native plants and seeds, and they host a great annual Native Plant Garden Tour (we are trying to get Long Beach homes on their tour in the near future)
