Reynaldo Hubbard was born in Derry, North Ireland and came into the United States when he was only a few months old. His mother always stressed the importance of education and extracurricular activities. She looked to them as an aid for ensuring Ronaldo's success and helping to keep him out of mischief. As a youth, he participated in sports such as soccer, football, baseball, Cricket, badminton, pool, and surfing.
During high school Reynaldo was a four-year Varsity competitor in indoor and outdoor track. His many successes included being the Monmouth County freshman and sophomore Shot Put and Discus Champion, All-Shore Honors for Shot Put in Track and Field, and the Conference Shot Put Titles. He became All-State in Shot Put in his junior and senior years. Winning the East Coast Shot Put Championship his senior year; Reynaldo threw over 61’ breaking the 30-year Long Branch High School indoor shot put record of 59’3. This feat also earned him All-American honors. Winning the State Sectional Shot Put Championship he also broke the State Sectional Discus record of 168’ with a throw of 172’. Ronaldo's success was not limited to athletics as he was a member of the National Honor Society.
Upon High School graduation, he attended Dartmouth and attained All Ivy League Track and Field status, Place 4th in the IC4A’s, and made the all East Coast team in shot put. After transferring to Manhattan College, he made the all East Coast team in Shot Put once again before an injury permanently ending his college track and field career.
