Kathleen De Bonis played multiple sports while attending Long Branch High School. Kathleen was a part of the swim team for four years, and also a part of the softball team, the soccer team, and the tennis team for two years each. In high school she was a four year varsity letter winner and captain in swimming. During that time she was consistently in the top three in Monmouth County and qualified all four years for states. Ms. De Bonis held multiple school relay records in the 80‘s, and was even voted Miss Swimming and Softball in her senior superlatives.
After her time at Long Branch High School, Ms. De Bonis attended Montclair State College from 1983-1987, where she excelled in Swimming and Diving, and Lacrosse. Ms. De Bonis also achieved many honors in her college career such as a four year letter winner and captain for diving. She was a four time All-Metropolitan honoree for the one and three meter Diving. Ms. De Bonis was also a four year Metropolitan Team champion member, and was recognized as the New Jersey Athletic Conference most valuable diver.
After graduating from Montclair State, Ms. De Bonis returned to Long Branch High School to be an assistant coach for swimming and track in the 1988-89 school year. She then moved on to coach at Rumson Fair Haven High School as a head coach for swimming, tennis, and soccer. After her four years at Rumson Fair Haven High School Ms. De Bonis became a head coach at Scotch Plains Fanwood for soccer, and an assistant coach for swimming. After successful coaching years at multiple schools, Ms. De Bonis concluded her coaching career at Bridgewater- Raritan High School as a head coach in field hockey, lacrosse, and an assistant coach in swimming.
