Judy Daniels is being inducted into the Long Branch High School's athletic Hall of Fame for her accomplishments in track. She began running track in the 8th grade but did not finish the season because of a leg injury that hospitalized her. Doctors told her that she would not be able to run track again, but her aunt Faye encouraged her telling her, “Don’t give it up.”
Judy attended Long Branch High School from 1980 through 1984. During her sophomore year she ran anchor leg on the All Shore and All-Monmouth, First team 1600 - meter relay and was named Second-Team All-Monmouth and all Shore for the 400-meter hurdles. Ms. Daniels continued to win acclaim her junior year, making First-Team All-Shore and All Monmouth in the 400 meter hurdles, and Second Team All-Monmouth for the Long Jump and 110 Hurdles. Senior Year Judy made first team All-Shore, All-Monmouth, and All-State. She broke the school, Monmouth County, Shore conference and the state record in the 400 meter hurdles. Judy did not stop there, she went on to be named NJ Group II State champion in the 400 meter hurdles, play second in the 110 hurdles, and third in the long jump.
Ms Daniels was ranked number one in the state and was favored to win the Meet of the Champions. Judy Daniels was the first in Long Branch High School to make the Meet of Champions in three different races. Ms. Daniels attended school at Virginia Union University in Richmond, Virginia. She now works for the United States Postal Service.
