Anna Coratello was a member of the High School's first girl’s basketball team and played under the direction of Coach Carol Alfano.

In 1974, Ms. Coratello made first team All-Shore in Basketball. That year she was also the highest scorer and earned the most points in the county. In addition to basketball, she also played softball and was named to the second team All-Shore in softball. She was a point guard in basketball and a catcher in softball.

After graduating in 1974, she went on to the University of Charleston, West Virginia, where she accumulated an impressive athletic record. She earned All-Conference in 1974-1977, All-Tournament 1974-1977, and Most Points Scored (46) in a Game. She also became a member of the 1,000 Point Club, had the record for most steals in a game (13), and her college career point total was 2,027. She graduated in 1978 with a BA in Physical Education and Health. In 1992, she was inducted into her College Hall of Fame.

Ms. Coratello continues to be active in sports. She is a certified spinning instructor and is a marathon runner; she has participated in the Disney Jersey Shore, and San Francisco Marathons. She is currently training for the Marine Corps Marathon which will be held in October, 1998.
