Satwika: Teenage Girl To Commit Suicide After Love Flings

A Telangana girl, Shriya Srichaytanya, committed suicide by jumping off the roof of her house after her parents filed a petition in court against her marriage to the man of her dreams, an engineering graduate, during his graduation days. According to the Times of India, 'The girl's parents had filed a petition in the family court saying that their daughter had married him even after she had passed out of college.' The 'great 'narrative' provided by the Hindustan Times,' makes you wonder how many such stories are going to take place during the coming years.

There have been several other cases where young women have taken the extreme step of committing suicide due to love-stricken relationships gone bad. Satwika is the latest case, but has she really become the victim of love?

Satwika had been a thriving student. She had played the violin and excelled in many other extracurricular activities including dancing, writing, and the physical education classes. All the above made her a person of distinction and her parents were happy with her. But this was not enough for them, as they also wanted her to marry someone of their choice and their son was the first to propose.

Satwika agreed and is now the proud mother of two-year-old twins. Her father rushed her to the High Court and filed a petition saying that Satwika was overstaying in the home and was violating the age limit of consent in case of marrying. Though the court accepted the evidence given by the parents and the young lady has now been back home for a few days, she is still not permitted to live in the same house as her husband's parents.

Satwika had long wanted to escape from the household of her parents as they had been 'influencing' her in some manner, the way they subjected her to all sorts of activities like dancing, singing, and playing the guitar. Now that her heart had broken, she was determined to commit suicide by jumping off the roof of her house. Satwika had also told her parents that she was going to marry the man she loved and was very much in love with.

Satwika's parents filed the petition for divorce but the High Court granted them an order that their daughter should be back at the house. However, the court ruled that her marriage would be ruled null and void and that her marriage will be treated as a step-motherly relationship as well.

At the time of the High Court's order, Satwika was allowed to stay at her house, but her parents are now being threatened by the woman's parents not to interfere in their daughter's life any further. It is said that Satwika has promised to return and raise her kids if she is allowed to stay in the house.
