About me

Hello! My name is Lauren Fritzsche, I use she/her/hers pronouns. I am a PhD candidate in the School of Geography, Development & Environment at the University of Arizona, and am pursuing a PhD minor in Gender & Women's Studies and a certificate in College Teaching.

My dissertation research draws on feminist political geography, critical refugee studies, and humanitarianism, and focuses on refugee resettlement practices, experiences, and policies in the U.S. I conducted dissertation fieldwork for this project between summer 2021 - summer 2022.

Broadly, my research interests center around feminist political geography, refugee resettlement, race/racialization, Islamophobia, identity, belonging/exclusion, and place.

I also have interests in geographic curriculum, and have published papers on anti-oppressive pedagogy and the exclusions in geographic curriculum.
