Assistant Professor, Public Administration
Binghamton University, SUNY
I am an Assistant Professor at Binghamton University, SUNY. My areas of concentration are nonprofit and public management and policy analysis with a minor in sociology. I primarily study nonprofit organizations, specifically governance and leadership and their relation to performance; volunteerism; and gender diversity issues. I am proficient in quantitative and qualitative research methods, ideally using mixed methods approaches to research questions. My current research focuses on the impact of gender diversity on boards of grant-making nonprofit institutions and has recently been awarded the Lily School of Philanthropy Women's Philanthropy Institute's Doctoral Dissertation Fellowship. I teach Nonprofit Management and Leadership, an applied survey course into the fundamentals of nonprofit management. I was recently awarded the SPEA 2017 Associate Instructor Teaching Award for my efforts in the classroom.
My previous studies include a Master of Public Administration with a concentration in nonprofit management from the University of North Carolina, Wilmington and a bachelor's degree in English and German from the University of Iowa.
