However, the little Betta faces challenges from the other tank mates who bully him for his weak appearance. Undeterred, Mary continues her efforts, encouraging Little Betta to eat well and swim against the water currents to grow strong. As time passes, the Betta fish begins to thrive, showing signs of strength with shimmering scales and a vibrant demeanor. Eventually, inspired by the beautiful abalone shell, Mary names him ‘Little Abalone.’
Mary's dedication not only transforms Little Abalone but also inspires kindness among the other aquarium inhabitants. Mary is in the living room watching Little Abalone swim in the aquarium. She begins to imagine what swimming in a water world would be like. As she daydreams, she falls asleep. When Mary wakes up, she discovers herself in the aquarium! She swims quickly to the water's surface to catch her breath. However, she is unable to make it to the top and inhales a large amount of water. She believes she is about to die, but surprisingly, she CAN breathe underwater. Mary is amazed and continues to swim in the aquarium, where she meets a variety of characters, including her tiny friend, Little Abalone.

Little Abalone 3
Laura's fourth children's book, Little Abalone 3 is the third book in the exciting Little Abalone short story book series.
Mary's family buzzes with excitement, preparing for an Easter party. Mary eagerly awaits her friends, including Joey, who brings his pet turtle, Snappy. Mary’s mommy gently warns that Snappy will harm Little Abalone and his friends and that he is not allowed in the tank. However, when Joey is alone, he accidentally drops the turtle into the aquarium, sending ripples of chaos through the underwater community.
Outside, the freshly planted Easter tree stands tall, its branches ready to be adorned with colorful symbols of hope and renewal, serving as a reminder of Jesus' love for humanity.
During the festivities, Joey becomes engrossed in crafting Easter tree decorations, momentarily forgetting about the turtle. Meanwhile, Little Abalone and his friends bravely defend themselves against Snappy’s unexpected intrusion. When Snappy gets tangled, they must rescue him from imminent peril. As a team, they courageously saved the turtle’s life, which reflects the love and selflessness shown by Jesus in his willingness to sacrifice himself for others.
As the evening nears, Mary learns about the aquarium chaos and worries for Little Abalone's safety. Mommy intervenes, swiftly removing Snappy and restoring peace in the community.
Initially upset by Joey's mistake, Mary’s heart is eventually touched by Joey's apology. She forgives him, repairing their friendship and reflecting the merciful love taught by Jesus.

Unable to deal with the fact that she killed her father, Sabrina’s sister commits suicide. After Jeff’s death, they learn that he had a lot of debt, so Joan is forced to sell their house to pay off the angry creditors. Desperate to find somewhere safe and warm to sleep, Sabrina and Joan visit many homeless shelters in Seattle, Washington, only to learn they have no room. Without any supportive family members in the area to turn to, they fall asleep under a freeway overpass. Joan quickly plummets into a deep depression, turning to alcohol and prescription drugs to numb the pain of the past.
