LAUNDRY WINDOW - PRIVACY POLICY

This page says the same thing as Settings > Legal > Privacy policy inside
the app; the two are written together and change together.
THERE IS NO ACCOUNT
Laundry Window has no sign-in, no profile and no server of its own.
Nothing you do in the app is recorded anywhere but on your device, and
nothing identifies you. There is no analytics, no advertising, no crash
reporting and no third-party tracking of any kind in this app.
WHAT LEAVES YOUR DEVICE
One thing: the coordinates or place name a forecast is needed for, sent
to Open-Meteo (https://open-meteo.com) to look that forecast up. If you
search for a place by name, the words you type go to the same service's
geocoding API to find it.
Open-Meteo is a separate service with its own terms and privacy policy,
at https://open-meteo.com/en/terms. Laundry Window sends it no identifier
of any kind - no account, no device id, no advertising id - because it
has none to send.
IT ALSO ASKS WHILE YOU ARE NOT LOOKING
About every half hour, the app fetches the forecast again in the
background, so the home-screen widget and your reminders do not go stale.
It is the same single request to the same service, for the place you
chose or the last one it resolved.
It never asks the device where you are while it is in the background.
Your phone decides whether to allow the refresh at all - iOS in
particular runs it when it judges it worthwhile, which may be rarely -
and you can switch it off: Background App Refresh on iOS, background data
or battery restrictions on Android.
WHAT IS STORED, AND WHERE
Your preferences, your saved places, the last place the app resolved and
the most recent forecast are kept on your device so the app can open with
something to show. So is the handful of finished sentences the
home-screen widget displays, in storage the app shares with the widget.
None of it leaves the device.
Because none of it leaves your device, there is nothing for us to delete
on request and nothing to export: removing the app removes the lot.
THE PERMISSIONS IT ASKS FOR
Location, to know which forecast to fetch.
- On Android, you may grant Approximate instead of Precise; the app
works either way. Notifications are a separate permission on Android
13 and later, asked for only once you turn a reminder on.
- On iOS, the app asks only for "While Using the App". You may also
hand it a coarse position by turning Precise Location off in iOS
Settings.
Refusing location altogether is a supported way to use the app:
searching for a place by name needs no permission at all.
The app never asks for background location and never reads your position
in the background. The home-screen widget and the reminders refresh for
the place you chose, or for the last fix taken while the app was open.
Notifications, only once you turn a reminder on, and only to deliver the
reminders you asked for.
Background App Refresh on iOS, declared as "fetch" and nothing else. It
is what lets the app update the widget while it is closed. It is
background fetching, not background location.
WHAT THE APP STORES ARE TOLD
Apple's App Privacy label, the privacy manifest inside the app and
Google Play's Data safety form all say what this page says:

Both declarations are conservative on purpose. A location sent to a
weather service and kept by nobody can be argued to be "processed
ephemerally" rather than collected; where the honest answer is arguable,
this app declares the data rather than claiming the exemption.
CHILDREN
The app is not directed at children and collects nothing from anyone, of
any age.
CHANGES TO THIS POLICY
If what the app sends or stores ever changes, this page, the in-app page,
the privacy manifest and both stores' declarations change with it in the
same release, and the date at the top moves.
