ABOUT COMMUNITY COLLEGE

The California Community College system has 116 campuses throughout California. All campuses offer courses that prepare students to transfer to a four-year college or complete a career training program. More information can be found here. Current high school students may take community college courses for academic advancement or to study a subject not offered at Las Lomas.

Diablo Valley College (DVC) in Pleasant Hill is the closest community college to Las Lomas and routinely has one of the state's highest transfer rates to UC. DVC is a great partner to Las Lomas, but students can enroll in any of our community colleges. Some local community colleges offer programs not found at DVC (and vice versa).

Kickstart Program

“Kickstart” is a free program for Las Lomas seniors, providing priority registration and early connection to resources. No participating student is obligated to attend DVC next fall. Read more here.

 
PRO TIP 1: Students will need to submit two applications to DVC - one for Spring 2024 as a "high school student enrolling in a college course" (to attend Counseling 095/096) and one for Summer 2024 as a "first-time college student." They must verify their email for both applications to start the application process and receive their DVC Student ID number.

PRO TIP 2: You will need an unofficial transcript for Placement (Step 3). You will need to report your UNWEIGHTED Academic GPA + 11th grade 2nd semester English grade + 11th grade 2nd semester Math grade. The placement process is complete after you have submitted your unofficial transcript to DVC. More info on DVC's Placement process is here .

PRO TIP 3: Check your "insite" email often for updates and instructions. Students may set up email forwarding to their primary email address.

Concurrent Enrollment & Summer Academy
