When we think about the word crisis is connotes some life altering event like a horrific car crash or natural disaster; however, the word crisis does not come with a specific severity or type. Crisis is felt internally and what can be a crisis for one person may not be to another. One crisis is not comparable to another.
Some types of crises include:
Situational: these are usually sudden and unexpected. It is in response to an external event such as being a victim of a crime or flood.
Maturational/Developmental: occurs when our coping mechanisms are not enough to support us during transitions between stages of life.
Existential: inner conflicts related to larger concepts such as purpose and spirituality.
