Language, Thought and Behavior
The team Language, Thought and Behavior at Institut Jean Nicod, Département d'Etudes Cognitives, Ecole Normale Supérieure, conducts in-depth empirical studies (often based on experimental research and corpus data) combined with formal methods.
We carry foundational research on attitudes, modality, plurals and mass nouns, free choice items, generics, presuppositions. We work on French, Italian, Greek, Chinese, English. We actively collaborate with University of Chicago, Georgetown University, University of Birmingham, University of Turin, and IRIT Toulouse.
We also newly carry applied research on big data, in connection with Institut Carnot de la Cognition and the Ministère de l'Intérieur. Our academic partner on these two projects is IRIT (Toulouse). At the Ministère de l'Intérieur we work with the Prospective et Stratégie Unit.
We carry new and oubreaking research on language and economics. Sacha Bourgeois-Gironde has joined our team!

The team is one of the funding members of the IRL CNRS/U. of Chicago. The kick off conference took place in March 2024.
