lamedropXPd encodes WAV files to the MP3 format and vice versa, transcodes OGG and FLAC, and auto-tags files via a drag-and-drop interface. Options can be configured by right-clicking on the program window.

This and LameXP are my current favorite MP3 encoders.

lamedropXPd is nice to quickly encode a .wav to .mp3. You can also drop an .mp3 onto the program, and it'll transcode it to a .wav, which I thought was pretty clever. Simple tagging and encoding options are nice. Basically, if you find yourself routinely encoding in the same format--say if you run a podcast and frequently save shows at a certain bit rate--this is a fine solution for people who don't want to get bogged down in a lot of fancy details.

I apologise for now having a solution to your question and offer a workaround that I have been using for almost a decade; export to wave and encode to mp3 with LameDrop, a small Windows utility with top notch mp3 encoding/decoding quality.

If you have a web address as to where to source lamedrop, it would be a help. I assume that when you download lamedrop that it either works alongside lame as a sort of plug in for audacity or post processes as a standalone application on the desk top. Right clicking on lamedrop as you describe below makes tend to think that it is a stand alone application. Your help is greatly appreciated.

I am using lamedropXPd 3.1 to turn FLACs into mp3s, and it works great. however, the id3's have a field called LENGTH in the extended tags that isn't in the FLACs. it has values like 235643 which are meaningless to me. e24fc04721
