This page contains information about how to get a student connected with the team, links to resources that will help you learn more about NICA and access to forms that you can submit to start the process of joining the team and applying for scholarships and / or financial assistance. If you haven't already read the ABOUT section on the details of the team, we highly recommend you do.

ABOUT NICA

This team is organized in the Florida Interscholastic Cycling League (FICL) of the National Interscholastic Cycling Association (NICA). NICA is the national "parent" organization that statewide leagues are formed under. FICL is the Florida league that this team is formed under. We encourage you to take some time to read about NICA as our team will always be oriented to embody the NICA Mission, Vision and Values.

REGISTRATION

Please use the following forms to begin the registration process. Please be sure to include a parent or guardian's contact information as we will never reach out to a student athlete in one-to-one communication. Any communication with the student athlete will always include the parent or guardian and/or another coach. Click on the REGISTER sign and fill out the interest form. Once you do so, you will receive a personal invitation from the league through its "Pitzone" portal.

EQUIPMENT

Student athletes will be responsible for brining the following items to every practice. Due to the inherent risks in our sport, being prepared is essential and the team will have a strict "SAFETY FIRST / READY TO PRACTICE" policy. If the student athlete is unprepared, they will not be able to participate.

Bicycle (must be approved by a coach and suitable for mountain biking activities);
Helmet
Water (bottle or hydration pack)
Appropriate clothing for the conditions (rain jacket when rainy, warm jacket when cold, etc)
Close-toed shoes (no flip-flops, slippers, crocks, etc)
Multi-tool
Tire repair kit (patch kit and tire levers)
Hand pump or CO2 kit
Snack
Necessary personal medical gear (e.g. Epi pen, Benadryl, insulin).
NOTE: please speak with a coach PRIOR to purchasing items. We have a team supply closet and may be able to assist with some items.

Do NOT purchase a bike until you speak with a head coach

Team Fees

There are two fees association with joining the team

Registration: $345 per season. The fee includes the following: registration with NICA as a student athlete, secondary insurance when at a NICA-sanctioned event, snacks, hydration, and small gear equipment. This includes (5) race events. Once your receive an invite to the Pitzone, this is where you will pay the league fee.
Team jersey: $60-70+ shipping. This is the price of the team jersey which is required for racing. You may wear any colored and type of short that is comfortable for the rider. This will be purchased directly from the store.
MERCH (optional): varies: There are opportunities throughout the season to purchase additional team and state league merchandise. These are not required items.
