LAKE HOLON TRAIL, South Cotabato
HISTORY OF LAKE HOLON TRAIL
Lake Holon, also known as Lake Maughan by the local T’boli tribe, is a crater lake formed within Mt. Parker, or Mt. Melibengoy, in T'boli, South Cotabato. Located at approximately 4,700 feet above sea level, this natural wonder was created by the volcanic eruption recorded on January 4, 1641. The eruption reshaped the landscape, leaving behind the lake known for its crystal-clear waters. Its depth remains unmeasured to this day. The lake’s name is derived from an American who died alongside Gen. Parker in a plane crash while surveying the area in the 1930s.
