TechLens is an internal platform that hosts services for other tech departments at MAS. The TechLens team's primary role is to upkeep and maintain this back-end to ensure that everything remains operational for day-to-day needs.
As the primary designer, I mainly worked on wireframes in Figma for any interface changes required, and liaised with programmers on production integration with React-Admin. I am in charge of maintaining a cohesive UIUX front with the LeapUI design system, based off Carbon UI, that aligns with the greater MAS ecosystem.
A major project I undertook was the rebrand of the TechLens ecosystem, with the objective to modernise the overall theme to refresh the TechLens brand identity, as well as a new logo and potentially a new name. I collated all existing brand assets, including typography, colour palette, UI/UX elements and marketing materials, and identified inconsistencies, outdated elements, and assets that do not resonate with the target audience.
I learnt to cast my net wide and researched deeply into the different design systems, including Google's Material Design System, Apple's Human Interface Guidelines and Microsoft's Fluent Design System, to draw the best aspect of each that would benefit TechLens. This was an exploratory task and any limits were put aside to introduce as many potentially different ideas as possible.
Along the way, I embarked on the Single Pane of Glass project. TechLens is a naturally data heavy platform with numerous sets of data to be recorded and parsed. SPOG is an initiative to condense all this data to its most crucially needed, and display it all on a single screen while retaining as much content clarity as possible, hence the name.
Refining the load of server data and condensing it into legible graphs and tables proved an interesting challenge to me and it felt like the ultimate balance between user experience and functionality.
