We aimed to highlight the importance of driving sustainably through the organization of a
National Drive Electric Week. We started this week off by sending out an informational video that recapped the plan for the week and gave
general information about electric vehicles and how they directly impact our community, as a whole. The next day, we pushed out more videos, this time dealing more with
statistics about electric vehicles and their
specific functions. Students were then to fill out a
Google Form with answers relating to the video, and the highest scorers were awarded
succulent prizes and
sustainable goodies, all provided by
local organizations who partnered with our group. On the last day, students attended a live
Zoom hosted by the leads for this project and were given a presentation about electric vehicles and the way they impact the world beyond, with
special appearances from some of LAHS’s
favorite teachers - leaving students with a greater
understanding of these vehicles and the vast impact they have on the environment. Diya Gupta also gave talks at meetings of various organizations like
GreenTown Los Altos in order to reach the community outside of ours at LAHS. Our overall goal was to make a
positive impact on the broadened community by informing students and staff about the importance of
eliminating conventional gas-powered vehicles from society - a goal that was able to be reached because of this event and everyone who was a part of it.
Remember to drive clean!! Be green not mean!
