With over three decades of basketball coaching experience at multiple levels, Coach Jack Coughlin has dedicated his career to developing young athletes and building successful basketball programs across Montana and Idaho.
Coach Coughlin began his coaching journey in Custer, Montana, where he served as the Girls Junior Varsity Head Coach and Varsity Assistant Coach from 1988 to 1990. His leadership quickly earned him the role of Custer Girls Varsity Head Coach (1990–1993), while simultaneously guiding the Custer Boys Varsity team from 1990 to 1992.
In 1993, Coach Coughlin moved to Seeley Lake, where he coached both the Girls and Boys Junior High programs, focusing on fundamental skill development and teamwork. His passion for teaching the game extended into youth basketball, coaching both boys and girls from 2000 to 2003, followed by several years coaching AAU Club teams (2002–2007).
From 2007 to 2009, Coach Coughlin served as the Vallivue Girls Sophomore Assistant Coach, continuing his commitment to player development and team success. He later advanced within the Vallivue High School program, serving as Girls Varsity Assistant Coach (2009–2012, 2014–2016) and Girls Junior Varsity Head Coach (2012–2014)—helping shape one of the area’s most competitive high school programs.
From 2016 to 2021, Coach Coughlin brought his experience and leadership to the Ridgevue Boys Varsity program as an assistant coach, contributing to the team’s growth and success at the varsity level. Currently, he serves as the Girls Varsity Assistant Coach at Kuna High School, a position he has held since 2021.
Throughout his coaching career, Coach Coughlin has built a reputation for emphasizing discipline, defense, teamwork, and player growth—both on and off the court. His long-standing commitment to the game and to student-athletes continues to make a lasting impact on every program he joins.
