Mission
The mission of La Comunidad is to proactively advance the interests and scholarship of Latinas and Latinos in biblical, theological, and religious studies. We are a scholarly organization officially related to both the American Academy of Religion (AAR) and the Society of Biblical Literature (SBL). Our annual meeting is held every Fall at the American Academy of Religion.
"La Comunidad has been the first, and thus far the only regular forum where Hispanic scholars in religious, theological, and biblical studies can gather periodically, nurture old and new friendships, share hopes, struggles, and pains, discuss ideas and projects, while deepening our interconnections across philosophies, disciplinary boundaries, seniority, age cohorts, genders, sexualities, national origins, and racial-ethnic identifications. It is a blessing for each of us who has been part of its growth and activities!"
