This is a project about simulating continuous time discrete space Markov processes. See, for example, Figure 2.
The framework we are working under is a particular class of such process which are used in Mathematical Biology to model (poly-)nucleotide chains. Examples of such chains are the TKF91 process and the Long-Indel process. In the beginning we will focus on simpler such Markov chains like the birth-death process.
This is a project for students who interested primarily in Mathematics and/or Programming with relative software. Ideally you should have some background knowledge and familiarity working with relative software and knowledge of probability theory.
The final results of this project might be used in a potential future publication in which acknowledgment will be given to the student but no authorship.
