Approximate Size: 50 single delegate delegations
The United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women works to promote advocacy, economic empowerment, political participation, and efforts to end violence against women. In committee, delegates will discuss domestic violence. Depending on country policy and past initiatives, delegates must work collaboratively to create innovative yet feasible solutions to this internationally pressing issue.
Dear Delegates,
My name is Jessica Stainton-Simmons, and it is an honor to welcome you to this year's LABMUNC. I am so excited to be chairing UN Women! I am currently a Junior, and this is my third year on the LABMUNC team. I recently moved back to the US after living in London for two years. Unfortunately, I didn’t pick up the accent! Outside of MUN, I love to swim and play water polo. Model UN has been such an important part of my high school experience; it has helped me gain a comprehensive set of skills applicable beyond just MUN. It has also allowed me to meet and work with a variety of incredible people. My hope for everyone coming to this conference and, more specifically, this committee, is that you will be able to practice effective collaboration, public speaking, and dissecting complex issues while also enjoying the experience. While I understand conferences can be stressful at times, I truly hope you are excited about LABMUNC! I look forward to meeting you all this December!
Best,
Jessica Stainton-Simmons
