In this committee, delegates will be tasked with stabilizing the Republic of Pirates, a self-governed community of pirates from all walks of life. A lack of central government has led to an epidemic of drinking, crime, and disease that threatens to destroy the republic if action is not taken immediately. Additionally, the English threaten the community’s livelihood. They could invade at any point and cause the downfall of piracy. In order to prevent this, the committee must navigate issues of sovereignty, diplomacy, and compromise. Delegates must work together to find the best way forward for the Republic.

Dear Delegates,
My name is Eddie Skolarus, and I am a sophomore at Lab. I joined the MUN team in my Freshman year, and have truly enjoyed learning the skills MUN teaches you and meeting new people at conferences. Outside of MUN, I run Track and Cross Country, I serve as an outreach coordinator for the Junior Economic Club of Chicago and I love to spend time with my friends. In this committee, I hope to see creative and detailed crisis arcs that take some risks with their crisis notes. I'm looking forward to seeing your ideas, and can't wait to see you all in December!
Hi! My name is Miles and I’m a sophomore here at Lab. I’ve done MUN for a little over a year! I'm so excited to be your crisis manager for this committee! Some of my hobbies outside of MUN include rock climbing, soccer, and video games. In terms of the committee, I hope people will be energetic, engaged, and on-topic to solve the issues that the committee will face. Remember, this conference is ultimately for the betterment of you as a delegate! Try new things and put yourself out there!
Best,
Eddie Skolarus & Miles Westneat
