VLA Mentoring Program - Main page
"Mentoring is an effective means for an experienced individual to help an inexperienced individual develop, progress and master, which ensures their success and the beneficial empowerment for them and others to follow. An unknown author said, "Tell me and I forget, show me and I remember, involve me and I understand." Jaye Guerin, West Baton Rouge Parish
Welcome from the VLA Mentoring Program
Welcome to the VLA Mentoring Program, an effort of the Louisiana 4-H Volunteer Leaders Association. It is amazing to think how far 4-H has come over the past 100 years with its humble beginnings as “The Tomato Club” or the “Corn Growing Club”.
Volunteers have been an essential part of the 4-H program and have had a profound impact on the life trajectory of 4-H members. Representing all ages, from college students to seasoned professionals and retirees, volunteers come with diverse backgrounds and experiences.
Through this program, Louisiana 4-H volunteers are willing to share their wisdom and enthusiasm with the next group of leaders to ensure successful Louisiana 4-H Youth Development programs for many years to come. We are excited to offer this mentoring opportunity.
