Amelia Magnolia Smollett was born into a family that prioritized traditional values above all else. Her father, Percival, was a rugged military man, and her mother, Elizabeth, was the housewife who kept everyone and everything afloat. She has five - yes, five - older brothers, Maximus, William, Maverick, Alexander, and Oliver, and three younger sisters, Louise, Millicent, and Janine. As the eldest of the girls, at only sixteen years old, Amelia was arranged to marry a wealthy young man named Astor, but she knew in her heart that she didn’t love him, so, without notice, she ran away from her home, leaving her family with no other traces of her whereabouts but a simple note explaining that she felt this decision was right.

Two years into her departure from home, Amelia met who was to become her future first mate, Samuel Arrow, while staying at an inn in the Procyon sector where she was docked at. She and Arrow quickly became friends, and it was around this time that she enlisted in the Royal Army, with her newfound confidant right beside her. However, after suffering an almost-debilitating injury during the war, she was honorably discharged and sent back to the Procyon sector. She didn’t let that stop her love for adventure, though, and after a slow and agonizing-at-times recovery from her injury, she and Arrow set out to find their purpose in life together.

A couple years of traveling the stars, and Amelia, now 35, and Arrow, 42, were occasionally hired as captain and first mate for various voyages by aspiring travelers. Upon viewing a listing from Dr. Delbert Doppler about a particularly long voyage to find the legendary Treasure Planet, she and Arrow took it on. Unbeknownst to her, the rest of the crew that the doctor had hired looked like they belonged in prison rather than on a ship like the R.L.S. Legacy. She was a little more than displeased at her financier’s incompetence when they first met, and she voiced as much, assigning young Jim Hawkins to work for John Silver, the ship’s cook, for the voyage, mostly to keep the young man out of sight.

She was known by much of the crew to be rugged, stern, and a bit naggy at times during the voyage, having grown up with a strict yet loving father as well as having been a part of the military for a while, but she still knew how to have a bit of fun, as shown when the doctor got into some rather… humorous situations like being blasted in the face by a space whale. However, Amelia also knew when to restrain herself in order to stay focused on the journey and getting the crew there safe and sound.

The supernova was one of the more stressful and exhausting events of the voyage. Amelia had gone through such events during her time as a soldier in the Army, but never had she had to actually take charge with a crew of her own before. However, with the help of Silver, Doppler, and Hawkins, everyone made it out safe and sound… except for Arrow. He’d been the only casualty throughout the entire ordeal, and she’d mistakenly directed her anger towards young Hawkins, who was in charge of securing the lifelines. That night, she’d destroyed almost everything in her quarters in a fit of pure grief and rage, then promptly thereafter wailed herself to sleep over the loss of her oldest, closest, and dearest companion.

A couple days later, Amelia was talking with Doppler in her stateroom, actually enjoying his company as well as his vast knowledge of the Etherium. He made her feel better after losing Arrow, and she found herself smiling and laughing a lot more when around him. Then, Hawkins burst into the room, shouting out that Silver and his crew were pirates and had started a mutiny on the Legacy in search of the treasure map. Amelia, always the fast thinker, grabbed her gun for protection and vowed to see them all hang, arming Doppler with a gun of his own.

They all managed to escape the stateroom through the bottom of the ship, where a smaller sailing boat was waiting to be boarded. They made it out alive, but not before a fireball took out one of their sails and Amelia, slammed against the side of the ship, was gravely injured. However, even after the three of them landed not-so-gracefully and she could barely walk, she was still commanding and rigid until she became delirious with pain a few hours later. That night, while Hawkins snuck onto the ship to recover the map, she and Doppler were ambushed and tied up by Silver and his crew.

After Hawkins was forced to reveal the map and the location of Flint’s trove, Amelia and Doppler waited, still tied up, while he and Silver were inside the portal, where Doppler managed to free them and get them back to the Legacy. The robot who’d helped them quickly became an asset as his memory circuit had been recovered and put back on, and he and Amelia helped the doctor steer the ship to get them all off the planet. It was a very close call, but they managed to make it in time due to Hawkins’ quick thinking and superb solar surfing skills.

Fast forward to the present, and Delbert and Amelia are married with four beautiful children of their own. She is the Admiral for the Interstellar Academy, for which she recruits Hawkins as a cadet, aiding him in rising the ranks to become a decorated Lieutenant. She’s close friends with Sarah Hawkins and frequently visits her with Doppler at the newly opened Benbow Inn. Since marrying Doppler and being blessed with her children, Amelia is a lot more laid-back and less tense than she once was, and she treats Jim like her own son, looking out for him and giving him advice while he was in the Academy.
