Monte Carlo Simulation Methods for Focused Ion Beam Processing

At the University of Tennessee Knoxville, we are developing a Monte Carlo simulator for focused ion beam processing, with support for milling, SE emission, and chemically assisted etching.

Computational Fluid Dynamics

For my PhD thesis, I studied the simulation of fluid flows with free interfaces and contact lines using Gerris, with a particular focus on the application of these methods to nanoparticle self assembly. The natural breakup mechanisms of liquid-metallic films can be harnessed to create ordered arrangements of nanoparticles on surfaces.

Simulation method described in Mahady, K., Afkhami, S., & Kondic, L. (2016).
