At first, when the series was named Dirili: Osman, Aslhan Karalar, the actress who played Burin Hatun, was thought to play the role of Malhun Hatun,[3][4] who didn't even appear in this season. The thought was established due to the fact that Malhun Hatun was Osman I's second wife according to history and that Aslhan Karalar was the first young actress who was confirmed to join the series. However, in the series, Osman's first partner is Bala Hatun played by the Turkish actress zge Trer.[1][5] This was only revealed with the release of the series' first episode.
The season was well received in Turkey. In December 2019, Kurulu: Osman attracted a record viewership on ATV, in its fourth weekend of broadcast, the 4th episode of the series recorded a countrywide rating of 14.46.[8]
