Humanity is on its last legs after the demons broke the peace. As a swordsman slays the demon king, a magic item sends him back in time four years to before the war began. Seeing loved ones alive again, he decides to try and stop the grim future from happening. The animation was fine but nothing lovely either. That pretty much goes for everything about this title. The premise could be interesting depending on how it plays out, but no wow factor. 5/10.
The first episode in a double length special. The humanoid races are only aware of a small piece of the continent, their territories are surrounded by lands ruled by dark beasts. There is a legend that a hero will one day slay the dark beast lords and expand the world for all humanoid races. A dark beast lord gets fed up with pests invading its land and trying to kill it, and decides to make the humanoids extinct. This first episode was a treat. The world building was wonderful, the plot was refreshing, and the art just bound it together wonderfully like a bow. This is pure dark fantasy. As a nice bonus it has a pretty solid English dub simultaneously releasing. 8/10.
Animated by David Production (the creators of JoJo), and on Netflix, I decided to give this one a chance since I figured a lot of people would watch it. Its isekai, with bad character design, blatantly cgi robots and monsters, and takes place in a beyond bland setting. It tries to play a bit to fanservice with an under baked romance plot but that fails too. Many other poorly incorporated tropes too. Remember this is just the first episode. Slop. 4/10.
The first minute of audio is just birds chirping lol. Another isekai where the protagonists wants to live a slow life. The classic envision thing to make it work magic system. Since its an isekai of course he knows about chemistry and physics to enhance his new magic abilities. He also has another special ability revealed at the end. The animation is interesting since the water is done really well, action is okay, but at one point there's a horrendous few second run cycle. Very plain, very generic, some spots are rough but nothing offensive. 5/10.
Dandadan is back for its second season. While its only been a steep downhill from the peak of season one's first episode, Dandadan continues to be one of the best new shounen around. Ghosts and aliens is a stellar combo. 8/10.
Good old Call of the Night, back when Creepy Nuts was good (don't kill me). Nigh time vibes, vampire romance, and good conversation. It's nice to see Nazuna again. 8/10.
Cloverworks have blessed us with another season of peak. Marin is always a joy but you can't forget about the og Gojo either. 9/10.
A once hopeless mage is now the prodigy of his professor. Hes recommended to tutor the daughter of a duke who despite having mana is unable to activate her spells. The animation is simple but nice enough, the world building was surprisingly fleshed out too. All the characters seem likeable, but there are definitely tropes. As the name implies I think this will focus mainly on teaching magic, which as simple as it sounds is a rarity. 6/10.
This is a bit of a weird one. A mystery supernatural thriller where a guys best friend is replaced by a gay demon body double. They live in a small rural town in Japan, and more strange and disturbing events begin to happen. The art is really nice for this one which surprised me since its animated by Cygames. The one thing to keep in mind is that this is apparently a boys love anime, so keep that in mind. 7/10.
Cloverworks cooking another beautiful romance anime this season. A girl from a prestigious girls school meets a scary delinquent while he's working at his parents pastry shop. It checks both boxes of a girl being nice to a guy doing nothing, and him getting the chance to protect her. I mean that in the best way, this show is too cute. Navigating getting to know each other while their schools are openly beefing. The icing on top is the the huge height gap. 8/10.
This is a rather unique one. It's an isekai where a hospitalized boy was the best rts/civilization player. He wakes up with his demon assistant from the game in a new world. The inhabitants he meets see him as an ominous shadow entity. The art is nothing special and it kinda has that slop anime feel, but the nation building element has me hooked. I could even see myself rating this higher. 6/10.
A very cute anime about an English girl connecting with a Japanese game center employee. You'll be surprised to hear English being spoken in a Japanese dub, but its an amazing job done by Sally Amaki. If you don't recognize her she's a Japanese VA that's completely fluent in both languages. 6/10.
An anime about literal rocks done by studio bind. It's as a beautiful as it is unbelievable. A young girl who likes accessories and crystals gets told by her mom that she can find them herself outside. She meets a graduate student studying rocks who takes her along to find some crystals. Seriously every single frame of this episode was breath taking. The story was fun and informative too. The only possible bad thing I can say about it is that it may not be for the folks who don't like slice of life, but honestly even they might like this. 9/10.
Although its not Nichijo its made by the same guy and basically just an unrelated Nichijo 2. Unrelated gag bits happening in the daily life of people living in a city. Humor is very hit or miss for most people, and theres also no real plot either. Fine. 7/10.
An nice but otherwise super ugly guy gets his life ruined. After becoming a neet he reads about a ritual online that will allow a person to go to another world. The ritual succeeds and hes met with a menu. After self imposing restrictions like -255 attractiveness he is rewarded with bonus skill points. In the new world he meets three others that also did the ritual and form a party. The vibe of this one is super playful, and its funny to see an ugly bastard isekai. The UB also shares the same voice actor as JJK Sukuna. The animation is surprisingly nice, and its looking to be a funny adventure anime. 6/10.
It's a zombie movie but instead of zombies its cats. A pandemic happened where if you touch a cat you turn into one. One of the protagonists trying to survive loves cats and its torturing him inside to avoid them. The concept is really fun, and the animation is fine too, and yet somehow it just feels boring. Would probably have been better as a one shot as I'm not sure how this will stretch 12 episodes. 5/10.
I was hyped for this one off the name alone, and the trailers made me even more excited. After seeing the first episode this somehow found a way to exceed my expectations. In this world humans are able to cast spells by controlling mana through incantations. The silent witch is the first and only in history to cast without incantation, and she learned how to do it since she was shy. She's one of the seven sages, and sent undercover to infiltrate a school to protect a prince. The art is beautiful, the animation is incredible, the voice acting is spot on, and even the ost doesn't miss a beat. Easily one of the best anime this season. 8/10.
A short anime only set to air for six episodes. It's exactly what it says on the tin. A slice of life comedy featuring two girls sitting in a food court talking about nothing. It also just blatantly has brands like Baskin Robins and KFC. Personally I love anime like this and they're some of my favorite comedy. Mileage may vary. 7/10.
Potentially the worlds first bowling focused anime. However moments after the first episode came out its tags were switched to feature historical and time travel. A terrible bowling club is about to lose a member who wants to play more seriously. When trying to get them to change their mind the girls wake up in the middle of a battlefield. The animation is pretty terrible and most of the first episode is super boring. The isekai(?) twist came out of nowhere and could be interesting but I don't know if that can save it. 5/10.
A lot of people are extremely happy this finally got a second season. One thing to note is that the original dub cast were replaced.
I thought the first season of this was a slept on hit, so im glad to get more. The animation is as great as ever, but do be warned the protagonists design can turn some people away. Could be in my head but I feel like the animation did get a bit worse. 7/10.
