Greetings!

I have submitted my Ph.D. thesis titled "Electricity and the Environment" at the Indian Statistical Institute Delhi in July 2024.

My research explores the intersection of energy and the environment, with a particular focus on the effects of unrestricted power supply on groundwater levels, agricultural electricity consumption, and other outcomes in Telangana, South India. I utilize a panel geographical regression discontinuity approach for this analysis. Additionally, I am investigating the determinants of electric cooking adoption in developing and underdeveloped countries, including the role of electricity reliability. This work employs mixed methods, incorporating qualitative surveys and MTF survey data from the World Bank. Building upon these determinants of electric cooking adoption, I am also examining adoption patterns and outcomes—such as changes in cooking costs and cooking time—when transitioning from gas to electric cooking, with a focus on scenarios where the fixed costs of electric cooking setups are subsidized by the Energy Management Centre, Ministry of Power, Government of Kerala.
