The Mass Communication and Media Technology department thrives to nurture young minds who aspires to be media professionals. It is an initiative to meet rapidly growing industry demands for qualified and skilled media professionals with hands-on training across the media verticals. To take a progressive move, the department adopts flexible and modular based semester system approach with practical inputs and critical thinking. Further, the department has collaborations with leading media houses which intends to bridge the gap between the academia and industry constraint. The broader vision is to lead the amateurs towards employability, start-ups and higher education.
Objectives:
In India, all forms of mass media - print, electronic, cinema, PR and digital media have been growing and going to be humongous in the foreseeable future. The rapidly growing media industry demands a large number of media professionals with a thorough training in the various media sectors. The department offers a two year PG programme in Mass Communication and Media Technology which provides a blend of rigorous industry oriented hands-on training as well as variety of technical skills for multi-tasking. It also caters to research and exposure to industries best practices through field work. This PG programme is designed to adopt semester system with Choice Based Credit System (CBCS). To a great extent, mass media is a modern reality which covers all aspects of human life. In nutshell, a degree in mass communication opens numbers of doors of opportunities. Depending upon personal interest, a person can work either in electronic media such as in Films & TV, Editing, Direction, Short Film & Documentary film making, Script writing, Production, Sound Technician or also in print media such as Magazines, Newspapers, Publications and Advertising. This qualification will also help one to go for fields related to Public Relations, Corporate Communication, Event Management, Graphic and Web Designing, Radio and Video Jockey, Journalist and Online media. Some government organizations like Indian Information Service, Broadcasting Corporation, All India Radio, Doordarshan, Press Information Bureau, Directorate of Advertising and Visual Publicity also take candidates from this discipline. The primary goal of this department is to nurture aspiring media and communication professionals to substantiate as role models in the media industry.
