As an international exchange student from Egypt (E-JUST Program), I have joined Tokimatsu lab for more than ten months from September 2019 to July 2020. I am a doctoral student in environmental engineering with an architectural background which was formed by BSc and MSc in architecture from Tanta University in Egypt. In my research of doctoral, I am assessing the sustainability of High-Performance Glazing Systems (HPGSs) for the office buildings in Egypt. Professor Tokimatsu has a great experience in fields of Energy in Buildings, Life Cycle Assessment (LCA), and Cost-Benefit Analysis.
In Tokimatsu lab, there are master, doctoral, and post-doctoral students from different countries such as China, Thailand, South Korea, Malaysia, Indonesia, Iran, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Sweden, and of course Japan. This cultural and scientific variety in a multi-disciplinary environment enhanced my experience a lot and helped me to share my work with others. All the lab members are so helpful and friendly. From day one in Japan, each international student has a tutor who is a colleague in Tokimatsu lab with a well-known of life in Japan.
Prof. Tokimatsu encourages his students to have freedom in their research with regular meetings and discussions for guidance. Furthermore, the financial support for joining the important conferences in Japan or abroad. He has an excellent experience in publishing papers in the Q1 journals of energy, LCA, and cost-benefit. Prof. Tokimatsu reads the students’ written work carefully and puts comments on each part to make the amendments clear and easy to be done.
Prof. Tokimatsu is very helpful in any administrative procedures; I really appreciate his usual fast respond and excellent communication to solve any administrative problem. Due to the suspension of study in campus, he established an excellent online system to keep in touch with his students and follow their progress in the research work. Regular seminars were organized online on ZOOM application. On the personal level, Prof. Tokimatsu is so friendly, and I felt comfortable to work and deal with him. He is life lover and usually organizes parties for his students in unique restaurants, but you must pay to join it!
In Tokimatsu lab, students co-operate in organizing the furniture and disposing of their unused stuff. With prospective development, Tokimatsu lab will be wider for more offices, and will have a nice view, comfortable furniture, a new interior design, research facilities such as software, PCs, and measurement tools for the coming students. One of the disadvantages, there is no organized sports activities or trips to unique places in Japan between the lab members.
Prof. Tokimatsu considers that his lab is so far from the center of Tokyo, so he does not force any student to attend the lab every day. So, students feel free to choose their accommodation in their favorite place in Tokyo. Also, Prof. Tokimatsu offers some time if possible, in Ookayama campus, which is near to the center of Tokyo.

エジプトからの留学生（E-JUSTプログラム）として、2019年9月から2020年7月までの10ヶ月以上、時松研究室に在籍しています。理学士と修士課程で形成された建築背景を持つ環境工学の博士課程の学生です。エジプトのタンタ大学で建築学の博士号を取得。博士号の研究では、エジプトのオフィスビルの高性能グレージングシステム（HPGS）の持続可能性を評価しています。時松教授は、建物のエネルギー、ライフサイクルアセスメント（LCA）、費用便益分析の分野で優れた経験を持っています。
時松研究室には、中国、タイ、韓国、マレーシア、インドネシア、イラン、サウジアラビア、エジプト、スウェーデン、そしてもちろん日本など、さまざまな国からの修士、博士、ポスドクの学生がいます。学際的な環境におけるこの文化的および科学的多様性は、私の経験を大いに高め、私の仕事を他の人と共有するのに役立ちました。すべてのラボメンバーはとても親切でフレンドリーです。日本での初日から、各留学生には、日本での生活で有名な時松研究室の同僚である家庭教師がいます。
時松教授は、定期的な会合や指導のための議論を通じて、学生たちが自由に研究できるように奨励しています。さらに、国内外の重要な会議に参加するための財政的支援。彼は、エネルギー、LCA、および費用便益の第1四半期のジャーナルに論文を発表した優れた経験があります。時松教授は、生徒の書いた作品を注意深く読み、各部分にコメントを付けて、修正を明確かつ簡単に行えるようにします。
時松教授は、あらゆる行政手続きにおいて非常に役立ちます。管理上の問題を解決するための彼のいつもの迅速な対応と優れたコミュニケーションに本当に感謝しています。キャンパスでの研究が中断されたため、彼は学生と連絡を取り合い、研究作業の進捗状況を追跡するための優れたオンラインシステムを確立しました。定期的なセミナーは、ZOOMアプリケーションでオンラインで開催されました。個人的には時松先生はとてもフレンドリーで、安心して仕事をしてくれました。彼は人生の恋人であり、通常はユニークなレストランで彼の学生のためのパーティーを開催していますが、それに参加するにはお金を払う必要があります！
時松研究室では、学生が協力して家具の整理や未使用物の処分を行っています。今後の開発により、時松研究室はより多くのオフィスに広くなり、見晴らしが良く、快適な家具、新しいインテリアデザイン、ソフトウェア、PCなどの研究施設、そして来るべき学生のための測定ツールを備えています。不利な点の1つは、ラボのメンバー間で組織的なスポーツ活動や日本のユニークな場所への旅行がないことです。
ときまつ教授は、研究室が東京の中心部から遠く離れていると考えているため、学生に毎日研究室への出席を強制することはありません。そのため、学生は東京の好きな場所にある宿泊施設を自由に選ぶことができます。また、ときまつ動物病院は、東京の中心部に近い大岡山キャンパスで、できれば時間を割いてくれます。
私は最近尊敬します、そして私は再び研究室に参加したいと思っています。時松教授と研究室の皆様のご多幸をお祈り申し上げます。
