Informal Statistical Mechanics Seminar

Organizer: Mustazee Rahman

Meetings: Thursdays at 15:15 in 3418

The goal of this seminar is to learn about current developments in statistical mechanics as it relates to combinatorics, particle systems, integrable models, random matrices and adjacent topics. The target audience is students and postdocs. We will discuss recent papers and present ongoing work in an informal setting .

Talks should be both accessible and contain details. They will generally be longer than an hour, so the first half should introduce a topic and the second half should explain some proofs (especially if someone presents a paper). A typical seminar will go like this:

First 45 mins: introduction, context, main result(s) and overview of ideas.

Next 15 mins: break.

Last 45 mins: details aimed at (remaining) audience who are most interested.
