I am a Principal Language Planning Advisor at Te Taura Whiri i Te Reo Māori | Māori Language Commission. In this role, I conduct research and provide advice on revitalization and maintenance of te reo Māori - the indigenous language of Aotearoa New Zealand.
I also continue to engage in theoretical research as an Honorary Research Fellow at the University of Auckland.
Most of my theoretical research focuses on phonological and morphological influences on stress assignment in languages of the world. My other interests include morphology and phonology of polysynthetic languages and Algonquian morpho-syntax.
I received my PhD from the University of Connecticut (2020), my MA from University of Colorado, Boulder (2014), and my BA from Saint Petersburg State University (2011).
