About KCSS

Mission

The Kansas Council for the Social Studies encourages high quality instruction, supports professional growth, and advocates for the Social Studies in the state of Kansas.

To accomplish this mission, we organize and lead a variety of activities:

  • providing mini-grants to Social Studies teachers across the state

  • selecting and honoring a teacher of the year

  • co-hosting an annual state conference

  • presenting face to face professional learning opportunities

  • supporting a digital community

  • providing instructional resources and materials

  • cooperating with national, state, and local educational associations

(Learn more about how we're organized by reading the super exciting KCSS Constitution.)
