近年，木材や竹材などの生物材料を、生長量と調和して利用することは地球温暖化の防止にも役立つことが明らかとなってきています。当研究室は，これら貴重な生物資源を有効に利用するためには，まず，それらの性質を深く理解することが必要と考え，それらの構造や物理的，物理化学的性質の検討など基礎的な研究を重視するとともに，木質バイオマスの有効利用に関しても研究を行っています。

　Biomaterials such as wood and bamboo are recognized as the eco-materials, since they are renewable and can be made into specified products with less energy required than other materials and their use bears less environmental burden. On the basis of effective utilization of them, we concentrate upon basic researches such as structual, physical, physicochemical and mechanical properties of them.
