Welcome to my website!

I’m a life-long learner who loves to travel and cares about culture and the environment. In my professional life, I’ve achieved wide-ranging accomplishments, including

researched how to improve communication to promote mutual understanding across cultures,

analyzed writing curricula at the United States Military Academy at West Point and the University of Arizona and proposed and instituted changes to benefit thousands of students,

administered two writing centers, one at North Dakota State University and one at Berkeley Preparatory School, instituting cutting-edge programming, providing professional development for staff, and overseeing expansion projects,

developed and taught a variety of writing courses for middle school, high school, and first-year and upper-division undergraduate students, earning two teaching awards along the way,

led hundreds of graduate students through the thesis and dissertation writing and publishing process,

written three book chapters and four journal articles as well as presented at 19 local, regional, national, and international conferences,

been a Fulbright grantee, teaching English as a Foreign Language in Ulsan, South Korea,

overseen an international essay contest for the Korean Embassy in Washington, DC,

developed and managed websites for four academic, government, and public institutions and written web content for seven organizations,

performed developmental, line, and copy editing for over 2,000 writers, ensuring clarity of content, suitability of messaging for varied audiences, and adherence to grammatical and mechanical guidelines,

been inducted into three honor societies, one for academic achievement, one for leadership skills, and one for selfless service, and

reviewed applications for Fulbright, Rhodes, Marshall, and other international and national academic and leadership scholarships.

I’ve traveled to 22 countries and 49 of the 50 US states, and I've lived in Korea, Australia, and 8 US states (1 of them twice). In my free time, I enjoy bird watching, reading autobiographies and historical fiction, taking walks, and watching documentaries and sports on TV.
