As one of our first steps for our initiative of diversifying engineering, we connected with Lovin’ the Skin I’m in, located in Green Bay, Wisconsin. This organization was founded by a mother for her daughters to help them accept who they are; before long more people of color joined the program because they also felt out of place and unequal in opportunities to other people. We learned a lot about her personal experiences and what we should do to help introduce more people to engineering. We realized even more that giving opportunities to people did not just diversify engineering, but personally impact people and give them something to be passionate about.
