If you want a reliable, wired volume solution for standard devices that offers lifetime durability and easy clip-on convenience, choose Koss 155954; if you need modern Type C connectivity with built-in noise isolation for the latest smartphones and active lifestyles, choose BCRKLO Type C Earphones. This isn't a close call between two similar options; it is a decision between an established, versatile accessory for existing gear and a purpose-built digital bridge for your newest phone.
• Koss 155954: Its biggest strength is the universal compatibility with any 3.5mm jack plus the unique inclusion of a pocket or belt clip for hands-free control; its trade-off is the lack of modern wireless capability or digital-to-analog conversion for newer ports.
• BCRKLO Type C Earphones: It excels at direct plug-and-play functionality for USB-C devices like the iPhone 15/16 series and Android phones while offering sound isolation to block external noise; its limitation is being locked to Type C ports without an adapter.
• Who each pick is for: The Koss unit is ideal for commuters and office workers who use older devices or headphones they already own, whereas the BCRKLO pair fits tech-forward users with recent smartphones who demand better audio separation during commutes or workouts.
The Koss 155954 VC20 Volume Control Cord is designed for people who prioritize simplicity and long-term reliability over flashy features. At its core, this is a specialized cable extension that places a volume dial directly on the line between your music source and your headphones. This design choice solves a very specific problem: reaching for your phone every time you want to adjust the level while driving, running, or working. Instead of fumbling with a screen or a button on the device itself, you simply slide a switch on the cord. The included pocket or belt clip is a standout feature that allows you to position the controller exactly where your thumb can reach it comfortably, keeping your hands free for other tasks.
This product is specifically engineered for "On Ear" headphones that utilize a standard 3.5mm auxiliary output. If you have a pair of high-quality wired headphones that you love but find yourself constantly pausing your music to change the volume, this accessory transforms the experience. It works with any portable music device that has a 3.5mm minijack, including legacy MP3 players, older laptops, and many current headsets. The 39-inch cord length provides significant slack, ensuring you aren't tethered too tightly to your device while still keeping the controls within arm's reach. Furthermore, the inclusion of a lifetime warranty from the manufacturer signals a confidence in build quality that is rare in the consumer electronics space today.

However, this product is not for everyone. If your primary device is a modern smartphone that has abandoned the headphone jack entirely, this Koss unit will not work unless you are using a separate adapter, which adds bulk and potential points of failure. It also lacks any form of active noise cancellation or digital signal processing; it is purely analog. You should skip this if you are looking for a complete set of earbuds rather than a cable accessory. It is strictly an add-on for people who already own good headphones and just need better volume management. It is perfect for big ears in the sense that it accommodates various headphone styles, but it does not include ear tips or clips designed specifically for ear anatomy.
The BCRKLO Type C Earphones are built for the modern ecosystem where the physical 3.5mm port is disappearing. These in-ear headsets are designed to connect directly to the USB-C charging ports found on the latest flagship smartphones, including the iPhone 15, 16, and 17 series, as well as a wide range of Samsung and Huawei devices. The key advantage here is immediate compatibility; there is no need for dongles or adapters. You simply plug them in, and the audio driver takes over. The design focuses on "In Ear" placement with rounded earpieces, which suggests a focus on fit and stability for active users.
What sets these apart from basic cables is the emphasis on audio isolation and stereo performance. More importantly, the product explicitly mentions "strong noise reduction effect" and "sound isolation." This means the physical shape of the earbud is intended to seal the ear canal against external sounds, allowing you to enjoy clear treble and strong bass even in noisy environments like subways or gyms. The remote controller integrated into the line allows you to pause, play, adjust volume, and handle calls without touching your phone, which is essential for multitasking.
These earphones are best suited for gamers, travelers, and sports enthusiasts who need a secure, wired connection without battery anxiety. Because they are wired, there is zero latency, making them excellent for gaming or watching videos where sync matters. However, they are limited by their connector type. If you own an older phone with a 3.5mm jack or a tablet with a Lightning port, these will not work without an additional adapter. They are also sold as a complete package rather than an accessory, meaning you are getting the earbuds themselves, not just a cable. While they are marketed as suitable for "big ears" through the concept of in-ear isolation, the actual fit depends heavily on the user's ear canal size, as the package includes three items (likely different sized tips) to help achieve a proper seal.
• Best for battery independence → Koss 155954 because it is purely passive hardware that never needs charging and works with any powered headphone.
• Best for modern device integration → BCRKLO Type C Earphones since they speak directly to the USB-C standard found in all current flagship phones.
• Best for volume adjustment convenience → Koss 155954 due to the dedicated sliding control and clip mechanism that keeps the dial accessible on your belt or pocket.
• Best for noise isolation → BCRKLO Type C Earphones because they are physically designed to sit inside the ear canal and block out ambient interference.
• Best for longevity and warranty → Koss 155954 given the explicit lifetime warranty compared to the one-month replaceable policy of the BCRKLO unit.
• Best for gaming and video sync → BCRKLO Type C Earphones as the wired Type C connection ensures zero audio lag, unlike some Bluetooth alternatives.
• Best for versatility across old and new gear → Koss 155954 if you frequently switch between different types of devices that may have varying port standards.
• Best for sleep or side-sleeping comfort → BCRKLO Type C Earphones likely offers a flatter profile due to the in-ear design, though the Koss cord might get tangled during rest.
After weighing the specifications and intended use cases, I would personally buy the Koss 155954 if my priority was a durable, long-term solution for managing volume on existing headphones. The lifetime warranty alone makes it a smarter investment for someone who wants to buy once and keep forever. However, if I were looking for sleep headphones for big ears or needed a setup that works immediately with my latest iPhone without carrying extra adapters, I would choose the BCRKLO Type C Earphones. Their ability to isolate sound and provide a direct digital connection makes them the superior choice for anyone navigating the world of modern, port-less smartphones. For those seeking the best ear clip headphones for big ears, the Koss clip offers great utility, but for actual ear-sealing comfort during activity, the BCRKLO in-ear design is the more practical recommendation.
The BCRKLO Type C Earphones are designed specifically for the USB-C ports found on the iPhone 15, 16, and 17 series, offering a direct plug-and-play experience without needing a dongle. The Koss 155954 requires a 3.5mm jack and will not work with these iPhones unless used with a separate adapter.
The BCRKLO Type C Earphones feature sound isolation technology and an in-ear design intended to block external interference, making them better for noisy environments. The Koss 155954 is a volume control cord for on-ear headphones and provides no inherent noise cancellation.
Yes, the Koss 155954 comes with a lifetime warranty, providing long-term peace of mind for the purchase. The BCRKLO Type C Earphones offer a one-month replaceable warranty, which is shorter but covers initial defects.
No, the Koss 155954 is a wired accessory that connects via a 3.5mm jack. It cannot be used with fully wireless Bluetooth headphones; it is designed to extend the volume control capabilities of wired audio setups only.
