KORG Legacy Collection

The KORG Collection accurately reproduces some of the legendary KORG synthesizers used and recognized around the world. Created under the supervision of the original developers and advisors, this collection offers the "real thing" in software form - only available from KORG.

KORG's renowned Component Modeling Technology, CMT, is used to provide a feeling of the organic and unexpected characteristics unique to some of the greatest analog synthesizers ever made. These analog keyboards are thoroughly modeled to include the unique characteristics and peculiarities of each synthesizer. The digital models are fully loaded with thousands of PCM/sound programs. In addition, the M1 includes the 34 original expansion cards, the WAVESTATION includes the 7 original expansion cards, and the TRITON includes the 8 original expansion boards, all of which used to be sold separately. All of the iconic "sounds" that everyone will recognize are included.

The KORG Collection reproduces the original hardware with specially selected improvements necessary for music production. The collection also features polyphonic versions of what were originally mono synths, impossible in the originals, as well as virtual patch support, high-quality effects, and a convenient browser function that allows you to search through a vast array of sound programs. Another highlight is the easy-to-use graphical user interface designed for fast and intuitive use.

The Korg Collection 4 (Formerly Known as the Korg Legacy Collection and then simply the Korg Collection with Numbers denoting major updates) is the one of the largest collections of VST instruments from Korg and was released in 2004 with updates and more Synths added over time.[1] The original 2004 release consists of the Korg MS-20, Korg Polysix and Korg Wavestation, and LegacyCell, a VST which layers combinations of any of the past 3 synths mentioned. In 2006, they added the Korg Mono/Poly, Korg M1, and Korg MDE-X Multi FX processor. On December 21, 2017, the ARP Odyssey was made into a VST and added to the collection, and the Korg Triton was added on for Christmas 2019. All of these synths were revamped in the spring of 2020 and renamed, collectively, the Korg Collection 2. With the addition of the Korg Triton Extreme, MiniKORG 700s and Korg Prophecy, it was renamed the Korg Collection 3.

They use Korg's proprietary CMT (Component Modeling Technology) to emulate the original hardware. The Legacy collection is compatible with ASIO RTAS VST[2] and stand alone so it can be used without a DAW. It is compatible with both the PC and Mac and the software was originally supplied on CD-ROM[3] but can now be downloaded via Korg's online store.

With the Keyboard and Rack versions of the Korg Triton released in 1999, and several versions to follow, this VST version faithfully replicates the original Korg Triton hardware, including all factory patches and waveforms, as well as a full collection of the additional EXB-PCM cards.[9] Released December 26, 2019.[10]

On April 14th, 2020, soon after the VST release of the Triton, all the previously released VSTs were overhauled and refined to such an extent that the entire collection was now referred to as 'Korg Collection 2'.

I bought the Korg Legacy collection a few years ago and recently installed it on my new macbook pro with Logic Pro version 9.1.8. My problem is that Korg Legacy does not respond to my midi keyboard when im playing. It is only when i open each of the synths individually that it responds to my midi controller and there is sound coming. Any ideas?

I opened polysix and also the capslock keyboard. I played around and it respons. Also the polysix keyboard responds. I tried to switch Logic to 64 bit and the Korg synths went under the 32 bit folder. All work but not the legacy cell as it does not respond when playing on midi keyboard. It sends midi but no sound. The legacy cell however responds to the capslock keyboard.

I don't feel the need for the legacy collection since I own Gadget Mac and have all synths as VSTs already (no Triton though). Smaller interfaces, ok, but soundwise they are identical. An M1 is just that, an M1. It does not make sense for KORG to somehow make 'smaller' engines for Gadget it would only be additional work. Also the iApps are identical so I can hook up my iPad to my Mac and have them with bigger interfaces. Now with the ARM Macs and the compatibility between iOS and the Mac OS I think it would be time to make one thing out of all that alltogether. Just one App - Gadget - and all Plugins as VSTs on the whole Apple ecosystem, from the iPhone via the iPad to the Mac one app. Right now I think the best thing with Gadget is that I can use it on every one of my devices and exchange song ideas and projects. Prototype something on the phone on the bus refine it in the rehearsal room with the band and use the synths in the performance and work on it further on the Mac. This makes Gadget my most used DAW since it always available when I need it anywhere. Just great software.
