Fall Exemplification Oct. 23, 2021
The First District of Texas held an Exemplification to the Fourth Degree on Sat. Oct 23, 2021 at Christ the Incarnate Word Church in Southwest Houston. The class of sixty-six (66) candidates from 16 Assemblies included four (4) priests.
This was an "Exemplification of Firsts."
It was the first in-person District Exemplification since churches were locked down in February 2019.
For Rev. Houston Okonma, this was the first Exemplification held since he was ordained, and not only was he one of the Fourth Degree candidates but he served the role of Faith Friar during the Exemplification.
This is the first Exemplification when a woman has been named the "Class Honoree." Lady Mary Jane Albert was a member of the Knights of Columbus Ladies Auxiliary (2002), she is a charter member the Catholic Daughters of the Americas court (2008) at Prince of Peace, and Lady Albert with her husband SK Merv Albert have chaired two Capital Campaigns to help build the new Prince of Peace church.
And interestingly, this Exemplification for the Fourth Degree was held in a parish that does not have a Knights of Columbus Council ...... YET. The Rev. Ngan Khanh, Pastor of Christ the Incarnate Word, invited SK Edward Young - FN of Assembly 2243 to use his parish as a way to introduce the men in his parish to the Knights of Columbus.
