He was preceded in death by his father, John E. Gallagher. Bill is survived by Dottie Milligan Gallagher, his wife of 49 years; and by his mother, Helen M. Gallagher of Runnemede, NJ; sons, Gregg W. Gallagher and wife Cindy, and John E. Gallagher II and wife Deborah; three grandchildren, William Joseph Gallagher and wife Christi, Amy L. Gallagher, and George W. Gallagher; and two great-grandchildren, Maggie Anne Gallagher and William J. Gallagher II. Many beloved family members live in the Tri-State area, and extended "Texas family" includes the Whitleys, Paytons, Shaffers, Virdells, and Mays. Bill graduated from Temple University in Philadelphia, and later attended classes at The University of Texas at Austin. During the Korean War, Bill served with the U.S. Navy on the USS LSMR-515. In 1972, Bill moved his family from New Jersey to Texas to work for Elgin Butler Brick Company. Later, Bill worked for the Texas Railroad Commission, and retired after 22 years of service. Bill was a member of St. Elizabeth Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus Council 10373, was Grand Knight from 1992-1993, and was a member of the KJT Council 132. During the 1980's, Bill served on the Pflugerville City Council and as Mayor Pro-Tem. He was also proud of having been commissioned an Honorary Admiral in the Texas Navy on the 27th of January 1986. Bill loved boating, fishing and playing golf with his sons and grandchildren. He will be dearly missed by all whose lives he touched throughout the years.
