Eduardo R. Zamora age 78, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family Monday June 30, 2025.
Born in El Paso Texas, he was the son of Jesus and Consuelo Zamora. After graduating from Ysleta High School in El Paso, Eduardo volunteered for the Army draft and served from August 1966 through July 1968, stationed in West Germany. After being honorably discharged, Eduardo attended the University of Texas El Paso, earning multiple associate degrees as well as a bachelor’s degree in business management. Eduardo worked in a variety of positions over his professional career, starting with managing the family business, Zamora’s News Service, in El Paso. He ultimately went to work for the State of Texas and retired from the Texas Rehabilitation Commission in Galveston as an Ombudsman.
Eduardo attended St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Pflugerville Texas and was a 4th degree Knight in the Knights of Columbus. He was the founding and charter member of the American Legion Kerlin-Lyerly Post 154 and enjoyed sharing his military experience with others. Eduardo received the Congressional Veteran’s Commendation from Congressman Bill Flores in 2016. He loved teaching chess to children at Rowe Lane Elementary School, teaching English as a Second Language (ESL), and substituting within the Pflugerville Independent School District. Eduardo was a fixture at Hendrickson High School girls’ basketball games, and every Friday night at the Pfield for football. He will be remembered for his patience, and sweet and quiet demeanor.
He is survived by Siblings Jesus “Beto” Zamora (Mary), Adolfo “Rudy” Zamora (Pat), Santiago “Jimmy” Zamora (Oralia), Irma Bird (Roger), and Connie Castillo (Pete); Marta Zamora; Children Yvette Zamora Chacon (Joseph), Anita Zamora, and Eduardo Zamora Jr.; Grandchildren Krysta Chacon Estrems (Clayton), Kalyn Chacon, Elena Chacon, Carlos Fierro, Jesus Fierro, Nayah Gonzalez, Madysen Zamora, Jacob Zamora and Kendra Zamora; and Great Grandchildren Grayson Estrems and Arianna Estrems. Eduardo was preceded in death by his parents Jesus and Consuelo Zamora.
His children would like to thank Capital Medical Clinic, countless specialists, the amazing caregivers and staff at the Pflugerville Nursing and Rehabilitation Center and Cella Bella Hospice. Due to their loving care, the family’s time with Eduardo was made more special.
