Douglas Mullins

OCTOBER 4, 1931 – NOVEMBER 15, 2014

Douglas Mullins, born October 4, 1931 in Foxworth, Mississippi, passed away on November 15, 2014 at the Wesleyan Nursing Home after a courageous battle with cancer.

He was a Veteran of the United States Armed Forces, beginning with a short stint in the United States Navy and retiring as a Master Sergeant from the United States Air Force. He was proud of his service, particularly his work as a Nuclear Weapons Technician. He extremely pleased to attend the Vandenberg Air Force Base 51st Missile Maintenance Squadron’s reunion. He was active as a member of the American Legion, the Walton County Arts Alliance and extremely active and devoted member of the Knights of Columbus. He began attending St. Elizabeth’s Catholic Church in Pflugerville after moving near it about two years ago.

He is survived by his triplet sister, Donnice Thornhill; his wife, Roberta Jean Mullins; his four children, Douglas Eugene Mullins, Denise Marie Welch, Terrence Kevin Mullins and wife Donna Kay, and Philip Kendall Mullins and wife Lisa Hope; eight grandchildren, Matthew Douglas Mullins, Melissa Jean DeOrazio and husband Matthew, Jeanette Renee Baumgardner and husband Drew, Candice Jean Nolasco and husband Anthony, Dylan Joseph Welch, Hannah Marie Welch (fiancé Nicholas Preston Mayfield), and Robert Preston Mullins. He is also survived by two great-granddaughters; Aurora Hope Baumgardner and Emilia Jean Nolasco. He was preceded in death by his father Robert Preston Mullins, mother Sarah Mytrie Mullins, brothers Robert Preston Mullins and Dennis Mullins, sisters Edna Gates, Alberta Haddox, Bertha Marie Coman, and Ruby Lee Gate, daughter Cynthia Sue Mullins and son Timothy Patrick Mullins.
