Synthesis and characterization of fine-tuned functionalized organic/organometallic compounds are the main focus of this research group. The heterogenization of the homogeneous version of catalyst onto solid support can also be performed to develop heterogeneous recyclable catalysts. Exploitation of as synthesized and fully characterized metal based homogeneous and heterogeneous catalysts in the activation of various kind of organic transformation will be undertaken. Once the catalytic reactions are standardized on gram/lab scale, these can be further explored at industrial scale to produce valuable organic compounds which can have applications in pharmaceuticals, sensors, drug synthesis, imaging materials etc.
The metal complexes of these ligands are precursors of new materials, reagents for organic synthesis, catalysts or pre-catalysts for organic reactions, and single-source precursors for metal chalcogenide nanomaterials.
Donor atoms attached to the central metal atom directly affect the catalytic property i.e. the role of ligands is very important in the reaction.
