This Privacy Policy describes how KnowNode (the "App", "we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, and shares your information when you use our mobile application.
We are committed to respecting your privacy. By default, KnowNode is designed as a local-first application, meaning most of your data remains solely on your device. However, when you choose to use our Sharing Features, specific data is uploaded to our servers to allow other users to access your content.
We collect information in two ways: data stored locally on your device and data you voluntarily provide when using online features.
The following data is stored locally on your device via AsyncStorage and the file system. We do not have access to this data unless you explicitly choose to share it:
Your created quizzes and questions.
Your learning progress and scores.
Your app preferences (e.g., theme settings).
When you use the "Share Course" feature to upload a quiz, we collect and store the following information on our servers to make the content accessible to other users:
Username: The alias or name you enter when uploading the course.
Course Title: The title you assign to the course.
Course Content: The questions, answers, and explanations contained within the course.
When you use the App, we may collect certain standard technical information via our infrastructure providers (e.g., Expo) to help us debug issues:
Device type and model.
Operating system version.
Crash logs (if the app malfunctions).
We use the information we collect to:
Provide the Service: Allow you to create, manage, and play quizzes.
Facilitate Sharing: If you upload a course, we use your Username and Course Title to index the course in our public directory so other users can find and download it.
Improve the App: We analyze anonymous crash reports to fix bugs.
Please be aware: If you choose to upload a course, the following information becomes publicly visible to any user of the KnowNode app:
The Username you provided.
The Course Title.
The entire content of the quiz.
Do not include personal information (such as real names, phone numbers, or addresses) or confidential data within the Course Title, Username, or Quiz Content (Questions/Explanations).
We may employ third-party companies and individuals due to the following reasons:
To facilitate our Service (e.g., hosting the shared courses database).
To provide the Service on our behalf.
We currently use the following third-party services:
Expo: For app development and build infrastructure.
Supabase: For storing uploaded courses and user data.
Local Data: You can delete your local data at any time by uninstalling the app or using the "Delete" features within the app.
Shared Data: If you wish to request the removal of a course you have uploaded to our public servers, please contact us at devin.neugebauer@outlook.de with the Course Title and your Username.
Our Services do not address anyone under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children under 13. If we discover that a child under 13 has provided us with personal information (e.g., via a quiz upload containing personal details), we will delete this information from our servers immediately.
We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page. You are advised to review this Privacy Policy periodically for any changes.
